Prey (2022) - Not Good To Have Seen It All!

★★☆☆☆

Well, never say never is true! When you wanna call it quits, you’ve always like got an itch inside to wanna make a comeback, but as you wanna keep it going, there’s always something to get in your way and hold you back. It’s been like more than half a year now since my last update! Luckily I’m not yet gone. I’m still going, not lazy but too busy being a so called responsible man for nothing serous actually! I take every each of my updates here as if it’s my last coz you never know for sure. All you can do is get everything crossed as possible.

‘Prey’ is considered the prequel to 1987’s ‘Predator’, which is an action classic for real, and part of my sweet scary childhood memories. Said that ‘Prey’ has reintroduced those basic elements that made ‘Predator’ such a success back there, like strong characterizations, a slow-burn pace of approaching the climax, jump scares and sudden deaths, a dangerous tranquil setting like out in the woods, and intense breathtaking action of course. But I guess one thing that makes monster films like ‘Predator’ or ‘Alien’ great is that you would never get to see what they’re really up against till the very last. It’s the chilling unknown that keeps you on the edge of your seat. That’s why originality is so appreciated and scarce for we’ve already sort of seen it all!

‘Prey’ is another good example of the more you expect, the less you’ll get; and of how difficult it is indeed to make something already told and checked fresh again! I’m however, not here to badmouth ‘Prey’. You should go catch it in fact, suppose you have no idea what that thing is at all. It’s the best ‘Predator’ film since Arnie’s original but yet, in light of setup, pace and action choreography, it still feels a bit too rushing and exaggerated, especially the last face off that is, to me, too smart to be true!
