(Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill) (2011)  ★★★★★ Frankly, I don’t enjoy watching baseball. I know nothing about it. I don’t like this game at all, but I like this baseball film very much. It’s, as a matter of fact, not really about baseball in spite of some terminologies there must be. It’s more about a man struggling to attain what matters to him out of the game, which is to win the last game of the Series and be able to keep his job and move on. You don’t have to be a baseball expert or lover to enjoy the film. You don’t even have to know what moneyball is. This film’s simply moving and thought-provoking enough to impress you even if you’re not a fan of baseball. It’s based on a true event. Brad Pitt plays Billy Beane, the General Manager for a losing baseball team, who strives to rebuild the team with limited budget after being seriously gutted. (2011)  ★★☆☆☆ I checked out ‘Johnny English (2003)’ on account of its trailer that’s so much funnier than the movie itself. It didn’t make me laugh till the last scene when Johnny starts to sing and dance to one of ABBA’s hits. It’s in general a turnoff. Years have passed. Now Johnny’s reborn, but the way he behaves still seems so Bean. Nothing’s of a surprise. Everything’s expected. And some said Mr. Rowan Atkinson would better fit in a silent film. I agree. As a comedy, this film’s such a failure. I however, appreciate Mr. Atkinson’s courage and profession all these years trying to entertain us by sticking to what once made him so well known. That’s, I guess, a gift as well as a curse!

(2011) ★★★☆☆ The first few minutes in the film is like a travelogue of the city Paris, going with sexy Jazz music, so I thought it was going to be romantic. Yes, it is, plus a little bit of science fiction and a lot of artistic elements. If you’re an arts student, you’ll be able to appreciate it more! Gil (Owen Wilson) is an American writer traveling in Paris with his fiancée. One night, he gets a bit drunk and insists to take a walk alone around the city. He’s later picked up by an antique car and slides through time to meet famous artists from the past. Since he’s struggling on his latest novel about a nostalgic man, he finds his time travel inconceivably fascinating and of course helpful. Nostalgia is what the film’s all about. Said it’s the denial of the painful present. There’re people who like to complain about the present and imagine how great it would be if they could live in the golden past they prefer. (2011)  ★★★☆☆ I’m a fan of David Fincher. I love the style of his works. That’s why I still went for it even though I saw the Swedish version already few years back. It’s hard to say which’s better. I guess both of them are good in terms of how the story’s presented as well as impressive characterizations. David’s version, however, has an advantage that the original version doesn’t seem to have—the outstanding score. It makes this atmospheric crime story much more breathtaking than it’s supposed to be. The case itself is not at all complicated, but thanks to David’s ingenious direction, it looks so much so. It seems to me that it’s not the missing-person case that the director wants to thrill us with. It’s the dark side of human nature as a matter of fact. (2011)  ★★☆☆☆ Sex before marriage, it happens. Sex before officially dating, would you accept? Jamie (Mila Kunis) and Dylan (Justin Timberlake) try to play a game of sex without love. They seem to be okay with it at first, but things get a little bit tricky later, as expected. The story’s of no surprise. You know how they’re going to start it wrong, and how they’re going to fix it right. I guess it’s much easier for men (not including me, I’ve made myself clear in ‘ One Day ’ review) than for women to do sex without love. It’s because, for women, having sex involves the risk of getting pregnant, so they’d need a loving, caring, responsible man to share their burden in the end. They can’t really afford to do it without. Even if they say they can, they’re probably lying. (2011)  ★★☆☆☆ 中國人有句俗話：相由心生。內在如何，外在也必如何，人要改變，必須從「心」改起，也就是從思想觀念著手。那如果把你的外貌連聲音，甚至性別，每寸髮膚都改造成另一個人，你的觀念、價值觀、記憶、性格、思想模式等內在的一切是否也能隨之改變呢？這個問題的答案，我們都心中有數吧。〈我的華麗皮囊〉則為此故弄玄虛了一番。 影片不怎麼現實，也不怎麼科幻，定位模糊，故事荒謬，情節不合理。唯一有點吸引我注意力的，是其非線性的敘事手法，也因為如此，所以開頭你會看得有點糊塗，看到戲裡的人做事也挺糊塗的，戲里戲外都稀里糊塗。這種講故事的方法目的是為了給你驚喜，嚇你一跳，但現在的觀眾太聰明了（不包括我），一切都盡在他們的意料之中。聽聞這是一部探索「我」的電影，所以看了。過程，沉悶；結果，失望！ 我在想，為甚麼那位醫生只為那個人換了皮囊，而不將其記憶也更新呢？可能技術還做不到吧？也可能他覺得這樣做更過癮，更能折磨人？我又想，如果將來科技能把一個人的「內」和「外」都一併換掉，結果會怎麼樣呢？果真如此，我們就能隨時「變身」了，而且你不會覺得自己變了，如果你覺得自己變了，說明你還在對比，還有以前那個「我」的記憶。果真如此，輪迴就不用等到死後了，活著輪迴？當然，活著輪迴也只是一種幻覺，就算記憶和皮囊可以更新，皮囊包裹的東西也會隨時間衰老的，除非……越想越心寒。 這又證明了佛說的「無我法」，所謂的「我」只是五蘊：色、受、想、行、識、聚合互動的錯覺。五蘊變，「我」也變，對「我」的認知也會變，所以根本就無「我」。試找一找，你所謂的「我」在哪兒？認真找過的人都應該會有一種恐怖感，因為根本找不到，但卻覺得有。如果有，那「活著輪迴」就不可能了……好了，不想再天方夜譚了。

(魅力非凡的陳坤) (2011)  ★★☆☆☆ 看完影片，有點頭暈。戴著兩幅眼鏡（近視眼鏡 + 3D 眼鏡）看電影，感覺真不好受，以後會儘量避免入戲院看 3D 電影了 ，除非了 IMAX 3D 不得不看的好戲 。 掛名中國首部武俠 3D 電影，〈 龍門飛甲 〉 的 3D 效果確實挺出色的，不過比起〈 阿凡達 〉 還是有些差距。影片最大的亮點是陳坤，他一人分飾兩角，有型有格，十分搶戲，李連杰頓然成為大配角，其他角色也都只是配菜，出場幾分鐘，耍耍兵器，發發暗器，廢話幾句而已。不過最不滿意的還是武戲， 「威也 」式打鬥太多，再加上 3D 效果，看得我眼花繚亂，頭暈轉向，有點想吐。 「武 」不行， 「俠 」氣感覺也欠缺，可能跟薄弱的劇情有關（有些情節明顯是為凸現 3D 效果而作，也不考慮合不合理了 ），這讓我更加懷念 〈 新龍門客棧 〉 等徐克的舊作。 看來徐克的武俠片已經很難在劇本和武打層面上再作突破了，他也沒什麼輒(奇策)了，港產武打片輝煌的時代已經過去，即使老頑童嘗試以 〈 阿凡達 〉 技術再創新，也只不過是新瓶舊酒罷了，問題是「新瓶」的吸引力有限，而「舊酒」也沒有當年那麼醇了。畢竟時代變了，我們也變了。

(2011)  ★★★☆☆ I gotta say that what attracts my eyeballs is not Tom Cruise or his stunts at all. Come on. Face it. He’s getting older, plus weirder and less popular due to his religious belief in whatever cult that is. Like it or not, hi-tech gadgets steal the show. Without them, the crew could simply accomplish nothing but sit and wait to be terminated. MI 4 is a hi-tech showoff. It’s quite entertaining to see how they use them to facilitate their jobs, but it’s not pleasing to see the long hair Ethan Hunt. I know I’m being unreasonable here, but don’t you think he should cut his hair? He looks more like a desperado than a secret agent! To me, MI (1996) is a classic, but MI 4 is just a fair piece of entertainment. I can hardly consider it good. Truth is, a good story doesn’t necessarily need any actions, but a good action film must have a great story to stand out. MI 4’s story is pretty exaggerated and cliched. 這幾天，我在想，佛陀當年決心出家，遍訪名師，勤修禪定，六年苦行，在菩提樹下沉思七天七夜，然後抬頭仰望天上星星，他覺悟了。他到底覺悟了甚麼？他到底發現了甚麼？ 作為佛子，我們都會脫口而出地回答：緣起唄！沒錯，是緣起。佛陀當年覺悟的無非就是緣起性空的道理──萬物皆無自性。說明白點，就是一切皆無常，緣聚則生，緣散則滅。佛陀覺悟了這些道理，他解脫了，成佛了。現在，我們這些佛子也明白緣起的道理，但為甚麼我們還沒有覺悟，還沒有解脫，還沒有成佛，依然活在各種苦之中呢？答案很簡單，我們只在享受佛陀覺悟到的成果，而沒有經歷佛陀所經歷的，所以我們是「知」緣起，而不是「見」緣起。那經歷佛陀所經歷的，就一定能覺悟嗎？也未必，但起碼你會比那些沒有經歷過的人更接近「緣起」。 佛陀提倡中道，不要我們走極端，但他也沒有否定勤修禪定和某種程度的苦行的必要性啊。當然，我們無須像佛陀當年那樣極端折磨自己，有時候，別讓自己過得那麼舒服就是一種苦行；別事事太過隨心所欲就是一種苦行；別讓自己的反應太過自然就是一種苦行；修禪定也是一種苦行，因為我們的心不喜歡安定，它喜歡隨著種種念頭和慾望跳躍，而我們卻對它極為放縱。 在末法時期，修定和持戒（苦行的一種）都顯得十分困難。物質的誘惑越來越多，道德觀念越來越薄弱，我們更喜歡花時間去追求感官刺激，錢財，名利等種種讓「自我」的存在變得更安全，更舒服的東西。其實，認真想想，幫人（布施）也是在鞏固自我，加強我執，如果不持戒，不修定，根本不可能一步步做到無相布施。所謂的不斷幫人，做好事，最終把行善變成一種習慣，我覺得只不過是「自我」的另一詭計罢了，目的是引誘你乖乖的在輪迴苦海中繼續浮沉。假如能輪迴得更好，也是不錯的事，不是嗎？也許吧。不過你得想想，佛陀為我們說法到底為的是甚麼？是希望我們輪迴得更好，還是希望我們解脫輪迴？ 兩千多年前，佛陀覺悟了緣起，得到了徹底的解脫。兩千多年後的今天，知道緣起法的人已經不多，相信這種道理並堅定修行的人更是少數，就算知道，也只是停留在「知」的層面，我們沒有興趣，沒有時間，也沒有勇氣讓自己真正「醒過來」。在輪迴中打滾的我們一直都在自欺：覺得這個世間有種東西值得我們窮畢生的精力去追求，它叫幸福。我們也早已習慣在苦中作樂，而不知「生而為人」這本身就是一種苦果。如果佛陀再來，看到我們如此顛倒，想必他會很傷心吧！

They hit it off on their college graduation but I guess they think of each other more like a friend than a proper date. They after all don’t have sex even though they end up in bed together on the first day they meet. I consider sex the necessity in love, but we don’t pretend to love just to have sex, do we? If you do, I don’t because I simply can’t. I think the reason why they don’t have sex as they’re supposed to is that they have different point of view on sex and love, and essentially, which must come first in a proper relationship. (2011)  ★★★☆☆ ‘Life In A Day’, a Scott Free production, collects thousands of clips shot on July 24, 2010 from around the world. They’re soundly edited and made like an ode to life itself. It reflects both the bright and dark side of human nature, so I got a mixed feeling after seeing it, if you know what I mean. One of the clips that interests me is about a Korean man traveling around the world only on his bike. He’s been through a lot of setbacks during the journey but he didn’t give up and is still doing it. I appreciate his stamina, strength and perseverance. I wish I had the same courage and determination like his, not to travel around the world, but to become a monk and save people from sufferings. If I have to travel around to do that, ha, I’m willing certainly. Also there’s a clip that thrills me near the end of the film. It features a girl in a car with her face close to a camera recording in night mode, saying things like life was not surprising; her day was nothi...

(2011)  ★☆☆☆☆ It’s interesting to be told that all animals can talk like we do, but they don’t because they don’t want to scare the hell out of us; and that you know parrots have done a pretty job pretending. It’s however, by no means interesting to check out a film like Zookeeper so preposterous and full of hot air. With lousy dialogues and characters and unusual stuff happening so usually, this film really doesn’t make any sense and is certainly not funny. Another dumb show you should of course avoid. Period.

(Richard Gere and Hachi) (2009)  ★★★☆☆ Don’t judge it by its title. This is not a Japanese film. It’s a Hollywood production based on a true story about a dog named Hachi’s unbelievable loyalty to its owner Parker (Richard Gere). It keeps waiting for almost 10 years outside a train station for Parker to come back even after his death at work. How unbelievable, don’t you think? To stay loyal to someone or something, one must have strong faith. Strong faith comes from the ability to love and be loved. So loyalty isn’t a bad thing or a good. It could be hurting yourself or others if you push it too far. Say, if you believe that killing your enemies could accelerate you to Heaven (I guess that’s what suicide bombers all believe), your loyalty’s destroying you. But if it’s based on love and care for others instead of selfishness or extremism, it’d help you become a holy figure like Hachi itself, and eventually enlightened, meaning you’d no longer suffer from any kind of pain. (2010)  ★★★☆☆ 〈讓子彈飛〉是姜文執導的第四部影片了，之前他拍了只有他自己才看得懂的〈太陽照常升起〉；再之前就是〈鬼子來了〉，黑白片，玩黑色幽默，不是人人懂得欣賞；處男作〈 陽光燦爛的日子 〉講青春的狂躁和鬱悶，算是比較通俗、正常、易懂的了，也是我的最愛，百看不厭。〈讓子彈飛〉不是不好看，只是感覺有點胡鬧荒誕，觸動不大。 對我而言，〈讓子彈飛〉像是一段段的小品裡頭包含一段段的相聲，但無論是小品還是相聲，都有一個共同點──都是語言的藝術。〈讓子彈飛〉的重點不是子彈（動作），而是對白（語言），如果有一種電影類型叫語言動作片，那就是〈讓子彈飛〉了。影片中的對白句句帶「刺」，英文叫 Pun （語帶相關），至於怎麼個有「刺」法？則視乎你被「社會化」荼毒的深淺程度而定了。中毒深者，會有很多聯想，比較純真的人，可能會嫌它模凌兩可，不知所謂。電影沒有特定立場，怎麼解讀，隨便。如此一想，我還不至於那麼「邪」了。 〈讓子彈飛〉可以說是群星拱照姜文，群星願意做綠葉，是因為姜文的名氣，他的名氣來自於他的演技和才氣，何以見得？看看他參演的或執導的電影就清楚了。姜導演是多變的，他每一部作品的風格迥異。他也從不向商業低頭，始終堅持自己想拍的東西。不知道他下次會出甚麼招，但無論如何，都是令人期待的，因為他的作品總能給我們帶來驚喜，至於喜不喜歡，就見仁見智了。

(2008) ★★★★★ 為何人在看到某些壯麗景象的時候，心會無比感動，甚至想哭？聽說很多太空人在外太空回看我們的家──地球的時候，都會忍不住流淚，而他們回到地球后，對物質的追求也漸失興趣。或許，在目睹此類景象時，我們會不自覺地意識到：「自我」其實是多麼的渺小；由「自我」、「我所」而產生的種種煩惱和問題，相比之下是多麼的微不足道。我想，在和攝人的大自然景象交融的那一刻，我們才得以短暫地一窺本性的光暉。 從小我就對宇宙著迷，對有關宇宙的紀錄片更是從不放過。這部由國家地理雜誌頻道拍攝的 Journey To The Edge Of The Universe （直譯：飛向宇宙邊緣）是我看過的最精采，最令人屏息的宇宙紀錄片。利用哈勃望遠鏡拍攝到的真實圖像配合出色的 CGI 效果，片長一個半小時，幕幕令人嘆為觀止。顧名思義，節目帶你從地球出發，遊歷太陽系，九大行星及其衛星，探索銀河系及其他已知星系，繼而向人類所能觀測到的宇宙邊緣邁進，這裡所謂的「邊緣」只是代表現今人類科技所能觀測的宇宙極限而已，宇宙的真實面目，我們無從知曉，至少以目前人類的智慧還無法得知。 如果能在黑暗的戲院裡，戴上 3D 眼鏡，看 3D IMAX 版的 Journey To The Edge Of The Universe ，我想我一定會忍不住留淚。請大家花點時間，點擊以下連線，觀看這部製作精良、精采絕倫的紀錄片。也可以下載，然後在大頻幕上播放。讓我們好好思考人類、地球在宇宙中的位置，這或許能就此改變你的一生哦！  Journey To The Edge Of The Universe

(2008)  ★★☆☆☆   九降風是指每年九月吹襲台灣的一種季候風，導演用它作為戲名，我想是為了點出「青春的狂燥和不安」這個電影主題吧，可是，看完整部戲，我一點狂燥與不安都沒有，它給我的感覺像是一部文藝片，而不是甚麼令人熱血沸騰的青春片，虛有其名啊！ 故事圍繞幾個中學男生，他們沒事喝喝酒、抽抽煙、打打電動、騎摩托兜兜風、看看棒球、釣釣馬子。釣馬子是青春片不可或缺的吧？但過程如白開水，輕描淡寫，毫無印象，兩位女生形同佈景板，走來晃去，不知幹嘛，戲份少之又少，可能導演的專注點不在愛情吧？難道是友情？但我怎麼感受不到他們之間的友誼深呢？影片中是有兩段小插曲想襯托出「友情」這個東西，不過感覺牽強，欠缺說服力，只覺得他們怎麼那麼腦殘。其實也不怪他們，一切都是荷爾蒙的錯。 〈九降風〉的演員表演僵硬，故事平淡，沒有高潮起伏，沒有感人的情節，沒有青春的狂野和頑皮，感情的描寫也毫不深刻。我真的不知道它到底想說甚麼，棒球？夢想？……算了，不猜了，就把它當作「偽青春文藝片」吧，不過，這樣的片子，你有興趣嗎？

(兒子和父親，從恨到愛) (2011)  ★★★☆☆ 由於工作關係，看了這部戲。看之前沒有任何期待，看完之後，挺傷感的。傷感是因為看到人在面對政治現實時的妥協與無奈。別誤會，這不是一齣政治電影，而是關於因政治因素而被迫分離的兩代人的故事。 〈麵引子〉是台灣導演李祐寧的作品，他拍片不多，但其作品都很有藝術美感，〈麵引子〉也不例外，是一部不折不扣的文藝片：對白甚少，節奏緩慢，催眠式配樂，沒有高潮起伏，沒有炫目畫面，人物是重心（所以演員多是演技派），圍繞人物所發生的事情是靈魂，一切娓娓道來。喜歡的人會說有味，不喜歡的人會說悶蛋，這次，我屬於前者。 政治是醜陋的，國家是矛盾與分別的產物，愛國是情緒化的，最終受苦的還是我們這些平民百姓。両岸長久以來的分立，無疑造成了很多人間悲劇，〈麵引子〉講述的就是此類故事，具體內容，大家自己去看吧（如果你找得到片源的話）。電影是見仁見智的東西，有些人對〈麵引子〉這類連戲名聽上去都令人「敬畏」的片子嗤之以鼻，但我覺得它還蠻催淚的。有時候，放下偏見，會讓你有意外的收穫喔。

(2009)  ★★★★☆ 何謂大師？在回答這個問題之前，我們必須明白在〈金剛經〉裡，讓六祖慧能開悟的一句話：應無所住而生其心。中國人言：哀莫大於心死。這個世界其實只是你心識活動的顯現，如果死心，你將不再關心這個世界及裡頭的眾生。因此佛陀要我們無所執著，但卻要「生」心。意思就是要生起救苦救難的大悲心，但卻不受困於這種「大悲」的情緒，要做到適度，需要很高的智慧。大師，我覺得，就是具有這種智慧的人。 日本電影〈禪〉，講述的是日本曹洞宗鼻祖道元大師一生的故事。作為電影，我覺得〈禪〉的製作有些粗糙。用日本人扮演中國人，還要那些日本人裝不太會說日語，真是看得我一頭汗。影片還有一些匪夷所思的地方，例如道元年輕時救了一位小女孩，後來小女孩長大成妓女，再遇到道元時，道元依舊那麼年輕。再後來，道元變老圓寂，那位妓女的樣貌卻絲毫不變。而道元求學開悟的過程，我覺得著墨太少，推進太快，再詳述一下較好。但總的來說，作為一部佛教電影，〈禪〉比韓國的〈 春夏秋冬又一春 〉好看。 道元雖是禪師，但他不是木頭人。他雖然知道有些定業果報他無法改變，但抱著死去的妓女的孩子，他還是哭了；他看著被人蹂躪的妓女的身軀，他也哭了；他聽到徒弟俊了因犯戒而決定退出僧團的請求，他流淚不捨，臨別時告訴俊了可以隨時回來，永遠不會捨棄他；他不顧個人安危，直闖「地獄」，點化被心魔所困的鐮倉將軍，拯救了無數的眾生，最終，當將軍真正明白何謂「春花秋月夏杜鵑，冬雪寂寂溢清寒」的時候，道元大師更是含淚歡喜。 春天有花，秋天有明月，夏天有杜鵑，冬天有雪。大自然無時無刻都在展現最真實的面目，道元大師留學中國（當時是宋朝）多年所領悟到的「眼橫鼻豎」的道理，也是在告訴我們：事物本來就是那個樣子，不增不減。不過，我們看東西卻不是「增」就是「減」，不能如實知見，因為我們有煩惱──不定。要明心見性，首要持戒，正如一個生病的人，要吃藥及調節飲食，病才會好。持戒才能做到道元大師提倡的「只管打坐」，才能生智慧，繼而更加明白持戒的意義，如此良性循環，最終見性成佛，所以大師說成佛不是死後的事，而是人人都可以在有生之年做到的事。 現在看看你的手，如果你覺得你看到的，是一隻「手」；一隻獨立、屬於你的「手」；一隻今天和昨天沒分別的「手」，那你就還沒有見到「手」的真實面目。禪，就是這麼簡單，也就是這麼複雜。它之所以複雜，是因為你不相信它...

(2011)  ★☆☆☆☆ Is Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz) a bad teacher? She’s selfish, shallow, and indifferent to her students and colleagues. She drinks and dopes and sleeps in class. Letting students watch movies every day is her way of teaching. She discourages them from being a great person, and encourages them to lie. She shows off her hot body but all she wants is bigger breasts. Freak! What do you think? Am I supposed to feel fun? There’s nothing funny; to feel moved? There’s nothing moving; to feel inspired? There’s nothing inspiring; to feel thrilled? There’s nothing thrilling or dramatic. ‘Bad Teacher’ is like a total mess to me. If you’re a fan of Cameron Diaz, you’d probably love this film because it’s tailor-made for her. The problem is, I don’t think she’s sexy or pretty or anything.
