The Crucible - God Is Dead!
Ignorance brings about superstition. Superstition causes irrational silly doings, sufferings and even death, just like the Salem witchcraft trials back in the 17th century in America.
Daniel Day-Lewis is one of my favorite actors. You should've realized how crazy and serious he could go as an actor if you've seen him in "My Left Foot", "The Boxer", "Gangs Of New York", "There Will Be Blood" and stuff. This time, he's John Proctor, a good citizen in 1692 Salem Massachusetts. The story's not that complicated though it may quite seem so: a group of girls secretly perform a courtship ritual in the woods. One of them named Abigail wishes for John's wife's death. Why? Love and jealousy are to blame. Soon after, the girls start pretending to be obsessed or unconscious so as to protect themselves from being punished for being so avant-garde and daring. They even accuse certain kind of people of performing witchcraft against them. So the chaos are inevitable. The innocent are jailed and even hanged. The girls become more aggressive, hysterical and evil. Having seen so many people be wronged, John loses his faith in justice and angrily yells "God is dead!". He's then arrested, and is to be hanged like all the others. Since John is well-respected in the village, the judges try to spare him by asking his wife to make him "confess". Would he make a confession and live on in shame? Or keep his name pure and die?
Ignorance can be very dangerous when it comes to religion-beliefs in a supernatural being power. You can never prove God's existence. You can only feel or believe God exists. This sorta blind faith is nothing but superstition. So are you serving or using God? Either way, you're being superstitious!
