Forrest Gump - Be Like Gump. And You Can Make It.

 (1994) ★★★★

Forrest Gump's mother's a great lady, she tells his son the nicest thing ever: life's a like a box of chocolates, and you never know what you're gonna get. Gump learns it by heart, takes it as his motto, and becomes a legend. Of course, there's no such a thing as legend. There're only people who know mother nature's a bitch, and people who don't.

If you know that you never know what you're gonna get, you'll know what you're gonna do. Or you'll end up like Jenny, Gump's childhood playmate and final wife, who always dreams of accomplishing great things, but ironically becomes addicted to heroin and cocaine, and has dog days. Thanks to his mama's teachings, and retardedness, Gump's able to come back in one piece from the Vietnam War while Dan Taylor loses both of his legs; partake in Ping Pong Diplomacy and shake hands with some of the most important figures in the world; get what he thinks is worth fighting for-Jenny's love; run across the country and go down in history. Without his just-do-it spirit and innocence, none of this would've happened for sure.

Just-Do-It may sound easy, but you know it's not. When you do something, you would not Just Do It. You would be either worrying about the future, the outcomes, or regretting the past. You'd be more concerned about what you're gonna get, rather than what you're doing. But the fact is, like Gump said, you never know what you're gonna get.

Right, Forrest Gump is fictitious, but he could be an inspiration to all of us-how we should live our lives, and cope with things around us. Speaking of which, a song by The Killers popping up in my head, 'While everybody's lost, the battle is won, with all these things that I've done'! You bet!
