The Bourne Identity - It's Unnecessary.

(2002) ★☆☆☆☆

'Cut to the chase', an English idiom, means 'don't bullshit and get to the point'. So if a film emphasizes on its chase but the chase itself is not at all gripping, then what is there left for us to see? Nothing!

Matt Damon here is not a superhero but a superhuman. He fights pretty much like Batman. He can still aim and kill while falling without wings. He, by just taking a look around, knows who's suspicious and dangerous and who's not, and how to make his way out alive. So basically, he can deal with whatever is gonna get him. The only problem is, he doesn't know who he is though he knows what he's capable of. What a cliche! Yes, it is. Let's cut to the chase then! The chase that most of the people consider adrenaline-pumping is, however, just another cliche to me. Compared with Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible 1' (yeah, only 1, coz 2 and 3 suck), 'The Bourne Identity' is totally a failure.

So would I bother to check out 'The Bourne Supremacy' and 'The Bourne Ultimatum?' Ha, what do you think?
