The Disappearance Of Alice Creed - Money Is The Root Of All Evil?

 (2009) ★☆☆☆☆

A film about two men, Danny and Vic, trying to kidnap Alice Creed, the daughter of a rich businessman and get a ransom... well, at least it seems so at the beginning, but we all know that things are not going to be that simple. That's, ironically, what makes this film such a letdown. There're twists, but they're by no means jaw-dropping. You'd kind of smell something fishy between Danny and Vic as the plot develops. Don't worry about questions like why and how Danny and Vic team up; why Vic seems so manipulative and intimidating while Danny seems so sissy and timid; why they'd pick Alice Creed; if anyone of them knows her, etc, since questions like that will all be answered. After all you'd probably go like, 'what the hell! What's the point of it? Why'd they want to make a film like that? To surprise us? To disgust us? To bore us? To lecture us? On what then?' I've been racking my brains...the only thing I can come up with is, 'money is the root of all evil', but what a cliche it is, don't you think?
