The Tourist - Not What They Appear!
(2010) ★★☆☆☆ |
'The Tourist' tells a secret: the tourist is simply not a tourist, and the guy that you think is behind the whole plan is just a tourist in fact. This is kind of a trick that most of the suspense movies have pulled, but you know it's sort of over-used now. So don't be surprised if there's no surprise at all.
Frank (Johnny Depp) appears to be an American tourist, but you know he's simply not. And a man that appears to be Alexander Pearce wanted by the Interpol and the gang is nothing but a tourist manipulated by Frank whose real name is___ can you fill in the blank yourself? Alright, so what's Angelina Jolie's Elise there for? She's looking for Alexander Pearce. They used to have a relationship. She's doing what he tells her to. She's told to pick up a guy as high as Alexander himself to distract the police, and she picks Frank on a train. Hang on a sec, don't get Elise wrong. She's not part of the gang. She's a police officer, an undercover to be precise. So keep in mind, things are not always what they appear in "The Tourist'.
The cliched plot aside, Johnny Depp seems clumsy and bright as always. Angelina Jolie seems sexy and cocky as always. Their performances are not appreciable as always. The chases are boring and stupid. In short, two big stars in a lousy film that you'd simply forget soon after you watch.
