The Bounty Hunter - Everything But A Comedy!

(2010) ★☆☆☆☆

Bounty hunters are, in case you don't know, those who hunt for bail jumpers. They're part of the legal system, helpers of the police, friends of justice, and a pain in the ass of lawbreakers. In this comedy, Jennifer Aniston (the main attraction of TV's 'Friends') is the bail jumper and Gerard Butler (the big, fearless Spartan of '300') is the bounty hunter... Hang on, did I just say it's a comedy or something? Right, I've made a mistake here, coz this film is everything but a comedy.

Jennifer in 'Friends' is hysterically charming and sarcastically funny, but in 'The Bounty Hunter', her charisma and sense of humor seem to be all gone. She's like a helpless clown trying hard to make me laugh, but I just don't get her. And her partner, Mr Butler, is even worse in terms of trying to be a competent comedian by using exaggerated facial expressions and body language. He should be an action hero instead of a comedy cripple indeed. Also, the story itself is such a cliche that you surely know what you're gonna get.

When a film is supposed to be seen as a comedy but you don't think it is after watching. You know it's a failure. I have no idea why they wanted to make a film like this. Maybe they thought Jennifer and Gerard together would create a magical effect. Well, they did, but it's to upset, not to please.
