Vicky Cristina Barcelona - Like To Have Sex With Me?
Imagine... you're a woman, a tourist in Barcelona, enjoying a meal with one of your best friends, and all of a sudden, a strange, sexy man who claims to be a painter comes up to you and says, 'hello, I've been watching you. You're beautiful and sexy. Mind if I take you to a place where you can truly relax and unwind, take photos, drink some wines, taste something nice, explore the local culture, and... make love with me?', will you be excited, or offended? Will you consider it romance, or harassment? Will you give him a slap, or give it a try?
A Woody Allen's film. What'd you expect? Relationships, romance, love, desire, sex? Sorry, no sex if it means nude scenes to you, only kisses, flirtations and kisses. That's supposed to be pretty good enough for a romance actually, but VCB is not quite simple like that. It presents love and relationships in a dangerous way. What I mean dangerous here is that you think you're getting it but you are not coz you're lost, and don't know what you want from love and life, like Cristina (Scarlett Johansson).
Vicky (Rebecca Hall), who seems faithful and traditional enough, is however, not immune from Antonio's (Javier Bardem) charisma and romance either. Guess when you're among romantic painters, poets, musicians, and artists, who are telling you that love is nothing but the freedom to express yourself, indulge yourself and be yourself, you'll start questioning what love really is, and being convinced that it's no big deal to go wild for a little. Of course every choice has its price! Wake up or sleep in? It's all in your court.
Vicky or Cristina seems to be the missing piece that would make Antonio and Elena's puzzle of love complete and perfect. But could love and sex be separated? Would you accept sex without love, or love being shared? I guess you would, all you need is the air, the Barcelona air!
